Birth Flowers - my latest love

Birth Flowers - my latest love

We all know about the different birth stones for each month - but did you know about birth flowers? Yes! There are traditional birth flowers to represent each month.
I love the symbolism behind jewellery, and have begun reading around symbols more widely.  This rabbit hole led me to explore Floriography - the Victorian language of flowers. Which then led me on to birth flowers.

The list of birth flowers for each month is :
  • January Snowdrop
  • February Violet
  • March Daffodil
  • April Daisy
  • May Lily of the Valley
  • June Rose
  • July Water Lily
  • August Poppy
  • September Morning Glory
  • October Cosmos
  • November Chrysanthemum
  • December Holly
There are a couple of alternative birth flowers for each month, but I think these are my faves so I'm going with these! I love finding new, beautiful ways to personalise jewellery and I'm so excited about these!
I love the idea of outline engravings of these flowers on simple sterling silver or 9ct gold.

Sticking with the Victorian vibe which led me onto the flowers in the first place I'm going to be making delicate simple silver oval pendants with each of birth month flowers engraved. The one above is my first try at a lily of the valley for May.
Look out for some lovely new jewellery designs popping up on the website soon.
I hope you like them.
